It was about this time last year, when we posted “Dancing the Night Away.”  Must be something about June that makes me get all twinkle toes… can’t imagine what that would be!  But here I am again thinking about how special we all want that first dance to be, how romantic it is, how the world seems to just melt away to a blur surrounding the pocket of oneness that you become.  Ok, that’s a little sappy, but you know what I mean.

That first dance, whether its just the two of you slow dancing to “your song” or daring the dance floor with a routine you learned from someplace like The Wedding Dance Specialists, is truly one of the magical moments you don’t want to skip. 

Something in that rather simple tradition speaks to me.  Its a fundamental connection to each other and to those that came before you.  Celebratory dance goes so far back in history and crosses so many cultural lines, that you’ll make a much shorter list of those cultures/groups that excluded it rather than included it.

May you always have a touch of that first dance magic in every dance that follows.
