Yves Saint Laurent - The Passing of a Generation

You fashionistas, I’m sure, already heard the news yesterday of the passing of Yves Saint Laurent, the sometime called “King of Fashion.”  He was 71.  This elite fashion icon was part of the Coco Channel & Christian Dior crowd in the heydey of those houses.

If you’d like to read more about this influential designer, browse through some of the following pages:

CNN’s article on his death
PolkaDotBride’s blog post
KNX1070’s article
Wikipedia’s entry

While he has not been the primary designer of the house for a number of years, his influence on the fashion world is felt every time “ready to wear” items, silhouettes, trapeze dresses or any version of the 1966 Le Smoking suit (women’s tuxedo suit) is worn or imitated.  What bride today hasn’t at least had the fleeting thought that it would be rather ultra-chic to go the feminine tuxedo route?

May he rest in peace.

GREAT post! I’m SO sad that YSL passed - but I hope he’s resting in peace for sure.
