Times have so changed since the day of very simple and dull wedding gowns. Wedding gowns have really evolved over the years and are emerging as the single most important thing to a bride for her impending wedding day.
There is such a wide variety of materials for gowns to be made out of - satins, silks, laces… and the list goes on. But there is a new trend of wedding gowns on the bridal scene today - matching gown fabrics to destination and type of wedding. For example, sheer fabrics, like chiffons, organza and some of the lighter satins are coming to the fore as the choice for elegant and classy destination gowns. These materials really elicit the flowing and breezy styles that compliment destination weddings.
Velvets are also very popular for the winter wonderland weddings. Velvet evokes the timelessness of the reds, greens and black for a winter or Christmas themed wedding. Not to mention that they are very warm and appropriate for that time of year. Velvet can also be used as a nice addition to texture of a gown.
Trim on gowns has also become very trendy. This can be achieved with beads, lace and a multitude of ornate gems. Crystals are increasingly fashionable choices on wedding gowns, especially Swarovski Crystals. Crystals can add dazzle and sparkle to any dress. Most dresses are coming with the trim added to the bodice and bottom of dresses. These are areas that really stand out and get noticed. A lot of brides are also looking for trim on the train so that as they walk down the aisle the guests get an exquisite and glamorous entrance.
So if you think you’re limited to “fluffy” and “lace” of previous generations, join the revolution and try something unusual! Dare to trim, change fabric or whatever strikes your fancy. You might start your very own trend!
