Wedding Destination: Savannah, GA

Wedding Destination: Savannah, GA

Susan from The Shops at 24 Seven brings us a wonderful look at a wedding destination - Savannah, GA: For a Romantic Wedding Somewhere in Time!

Swashbuckling pirates. Romance on the high seas. Live oaks drip with Spanish moss swaying in the gentle breeze. Breathtaking gardens surround square after square in this city rich in beauty and history. Savannah is one of the most picturesque cities anywhere-and an absolutely heavenly place for a destination wedding.

Yes, I admit I’m completely prejudiced. I’ve loved Savannah ever since I first saw it, and I did get married in Georgia’s First City. A favorite port for pirates like Blackbeard and Anne Bonny, Savannah has a unique, Old World ambience, and there are so many spectacular locations for a wedding ceremony and reception, it would be hard to decide:

  • The Riverfront, with its original cobblestone paths, historic hotels, shops and restaurants offers shopping, recreational activities and spectacular views, while dining, entertainment and romance are Savannah’s nights.
  • Savannah’s 22 squares are shaded by live oaks, perfumed by magnolias, surrounded by historic buildings, bursting with color and incredibly romantic places for wedding ceremonies.
  • Laid-back Tybee Island and the beach along the Atlantic Ocean is just a short drive from Savannah and a truly enchanting place to exchange your wedding vows, with fabulous parks, restaurants, reception halls and even Tybee’s landmark Pier waiting for you.

Love is always in the air in Savannah! If you’re looking for the ideal spot for your destination wedding, Savannah is definitely worth a look!

I know I’ve mentioned before that I wasn’t the little girl/young woman who dreamt of her wedding day. I’d have to say that the only time I actually thought about what I might wear to my wedding was when I saw Gone with The Wind. And I remember thinking that Scarlett’s green & white picnic dress was the most wonderful thing I’d ever seen.

While, I never got to wear a dress like that, I did get to see Savannah and have to whole-heartedly agreed with Susan. It’s a place where romance blooms. Thanks, Susan!

I recently visited Savannah and got engaged in Forsyth Park!! I’m thinking about heading back to Savannah next year to tie the knot with my fiance. It’s was just so beautiful down there!

Does anyone have any suggestions on venues or wedding planners? Since I’m not from the GA area, I’ll need some support on the ground!

I’d love to have a small wedding 50-100 with the ceremony in Forsyth and then a small reception at an Inn or historic house. It’s just a bit intimidating since I’m not from the area (and currently live in the Northeast)

If it was Texas, I could help you out, so let’s ask the readers. Anyone got some pointers or help for this bride to be?
