The Lady (Bride?!) In Red

A Bride in Red - do you dare?

If I could just get over my traditional hangups, I’d wear a gorgeous colored wedding dress like the above. Perhaps even a black wedding dress, as found popular in the European neck of the woods. However, as it’s commonly unknown in American culture, white dresses are pretty much a NON-standard in other countries. In fact, in several countries, white is generally reserved for solemn occasions such as funerals. Asian traditions have deemed red as a good luck color, especially in China. So, if you’re looking for something different when trying on wedding dresses, try red!

Spring Weddings & Baseball Bliss

Posted on Monday 31 March 2008

Bright & beautiful SpringYou’ve heard the old saying about spring fever? You know, you’re either antsy to get out and do something or you’re full of procrastination and general “I don’t care to work” restlessness. Yep, sounds like Spring to me. Either way you go, I’m sure you Spring Brides will still have everything coming up roses - eventually!

Spring weddings put me in the “soft” frame of mind. I think if I was chosing a spring wedding, I’d love the paler shades of blue, green, pink, even yellow. Not all together, mind you, I wouldn’t want to look like an Easter basket! (Although, if you’re getting married close to Easter, using baskets for your floral centerpieces would be lovely)

Garden weddings are perfect for Spring - unless you happen to be in a part of the country where Spring means mostly April showers - from March through May. Roses are a suited to spring weddings since they do come in so many colors, but with the wealth of early blooms, you might want to pick something different. Wildflowers? Peonies? Something uniquely regional? Certainly nothing says you have to go pastel. Just look at the vibrant shades above.

So if you’re a bride feverish about your Spring wedding and need Spring-centered ideas, consider these:

Spring Wedding Ideas from Nina Calloway at About.com

WeddingVendors.com has some more spring ideas (oh, candlelight outdoors - so romantic)

Spring favor and decoration ideas from Beau-coup.com

Of course, some of us associate spring with (my favorite sport) baseball! If you missed our earlier post about Ballpark Brides, read up on some of the cool places you baseball fans can launch your own winning season.

Batter up!

Barefoot & Bedazzled

Posted on Friday 28 March 2008

Oh Happy Feet!Planning on going barefoot for your beach front wedding, but still feeling a bit bummed you can’t rock your dream Manolos on the sand? Skip the stilettos and strap on some foot jewelry instead! You can have your barefoot wedding sandals created just for you, incorporating your wedding colors, perhaps your something blue, and of course, a little sparkle. Don’t let the sand blow away your chance for showing off your bridal pedicure - flaunt your bare feet by draping them in Swarovski crystals and pearls.
