The Bad Hair Day is frustrating enough for most women without it happening on your wedding day too. You have some measure of control over the things that don’t change shape - shoes, gown, and so on. Your hair is another story. We fight that battle every day, some with more success than others. But we’d all like to have beautiful hair on our wedding day.
Your choice of style can be determined by many of the same things as your gown and shoes - what kind of event are you having? Is it formal or informal? Where will it take place - a garden, a beach, a cathedral? What kind of dress are you wearing? That’s not to say you can’t choose that lovely upswept do at beach or that long loose wave at an uptown event, but some styles “fit” better than others.
If you normally wear your hair in one style, you may be tempted to choose something really different for your wedding. If you do, be sure to try it out in advance, even if you just wear it around the house a couple of times beforehand. Rather like a new pair of shoes, make sure you can move comfortably and aren’t tugging and pulling at it. If you’re wearing a headpiece with the new style, try that too. You’ll feel and move better if you know what you’re getting yourself into.
Like any normal style, you’ll want to keep your face shape in mind. Oval faces (what you’ll find on models most often) can get away with all kinds of styles. Feel free to experiment! Round faces do well with upswept hair keeping bangs away from the face. Square faces are softened by longer locks and curls while heart-shaped faces might try a side part or chignon. Head over to Visual-makeover.com and see all their advice on face shapes and styles.
You might also consider visiting your stylist for some wedding specific information. Check around your area for some salons that might specialize in wedding styles. When I started this post, I just thought “Wedding Tresses” was a cute title for a bit about hair. Didn’t realize there was a Wedding Tresses salon.
Hair and makeup in one spot. I rather like that.

This is great! Personally, I don’t think trying something new and different on your head on your wedding day is a good idea. You should look like YOU in your wedding pictures, not someone in a magazine that no one knows!

I always recommend doing a trial run of your Wedding Day hair style. So you can see how it looks on you and how long it will last. This will totally help with your anxiety about how your hair will turn out.
