The Sweet Spot - A Wedding Candy Buffet

mmCandyOh, yum! My sweet tooth may actually have gone into overdrive on this one. One palate pleasing idea replacing the usual wedding favor these days is the “candy buffet.” Instead of table centerpieces or individualized favors that wind up “forgotten” on empty tables at the end of the night, some sweet savvy brides are letting guests go home with their own bag of goodies.

You can set up a table, perhaps near your guest book if you want to alert guests in advance. Use an assortment of attractive containers and fill them with all manner of candies. You might choose to coordinate with your wedding colors. For example, for a white wedding you might choose all “white” candies - like Sno Caps, white rock candy, or white custom printed & colored M&Ms.

If you’d prefer to have more selections of chocolate, hard candy, etc., you can still coordinate with the container colors or use glass containers tied with ribbons that match your chosen shades instead. Have little cellophane bags (again color choices available or printed with your names & date) or Chinese “take out” boxes for guests to fill.

For more ideas, see the Candy Blog at Candywarehouse.com, Bridalwave.tv ’s candy buffet entry, and one reader at TheKnot.com has a bunch of great pictures to compare with. Stylemepretty.com has a lovely chocolate sampler idea.

If you don’t want to do all the work yourself, try to find a local vendor like HoustonSweetCouture.com to help you out.

Welcome CandyFavorites! The buffets are such a fun thing to add!
I saw your site, I like that we can see samples and search by color or occasion. That’s cool. Y’all can do that at http://www.candyfavorites.com/shop/weddingcandybuffet.php.

While candy buffets are a big hit at any type of event, finding the perfect and coordinated scoop or spoon can be hard to do. What if you want a color scoop? Or super shiny and not aluminum? The Candy Scoop Store has over 25 different scoops, spoons, shovels to choose from. Can’t pick one color? How about a rainbow scoop that has them all?

While a candy buffet is “Sweet” it is also “eye candy”. Having different levels of containers will draw the eye to your buffet. Adding other items to the buffet will make it look grand and fabulous. Try adding photos of the bride and groom as children, table runners, flowers, a punch fountain…….oh, and don’t forget something salty as well, nothing goes better with candy then salt. Potato chips, pretzels or sour balls.

Retro candies will bring back fond memories for your guests. Above all, make it fun and colorful. Randi
