Wondering what’s new and changing in weddings these days? Let’s take a look, shall we?
American Chronicle’s “What’s New in Weddings” by Christina Hamlett (Feb. 2007) is a good place to start. She talks about some of the trends gaining in popularity. I especially liked seeing the comment, “Original weddings vows are making a comeback.” Sometimes the “fresh” idea comes from something as simple as reviving an old one.
USABride.com has a list of 20 wedding trends. The number two slot belongs to brides who are using a personal “newsletter” to keep family and friends up to date on plans and schedules. I call that ambitious! Of course, you could always let My Wedding Hero help you keep things updated instead. If you haven’t yet looked it over, check out our “Getting started in My Wedding Hero” guide and let us help you with that.
Nina Callaway at About.com’s wedding section has an interesting 2007 wedding trend list. I found #5’s It’s Not the Me Generation Anymore (about couples finding ways to give back after their elaborate weddings) is very much in style.
And Allison Rushby at Wedding.net.com.au offers 20 new wedding trends that she’s handily divided into sections: before the wedding, during the ceremony, at the reception and after the wedding.
Of course, trends, like fashions, come and go. Don’t let the latest “hot thing” sway you away from the things that warm your heart.
We’d love to hear your opinions on what’s “in” for weddings, post your comment!

You know what I’d love to see make a comeback? Wedding veils. Personally I think they add a touch of grace to the gown.
