All videographers are not created equal, thank goodness. Because the one you need for your more casual garden wedding might not be the same one that your best friend found for her edgy art gallery event. In fact, some brides have chosen a completely separate videographer and photographer.
Asking the right questions is critical to finding the right fit. Here are a few things you might want to touch on:
- Style - Artsy, documentary, etc.
- Experience - Have they done weddings before? Is the person you’ve contacted the one who will be doing the shooting?
- Planning - How will they coordinate with you and your planner or vendors? (…think My Wedding Hero)
- Equipment - What are they using? Can they keep you informed about the look of the finished product without drowning you in tech-ese?
- Back up plans - Do they have them and what are they?
- Show me the money - Get a price list for services. Ask about special packages you can take advantage of.
Looking more advice? PartySpot.com has a list of twelve things to ask videographers.
The Wedding and Event Videographers Association International can help you find one of their local members via email. They provide pricing information and have posted a few comments from brides who have used their service.
If you’d like to see some actual videos, head over to Wedplan.net’s videographer section.
WeddingVideo.com was built by videographers and is specifically dedicated to helping brides connect with them. So don’t hesitate to ask for references from previous clients.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, how much is a video worth? Hmm. In any case, picture or video, it’s all priceless, now isn’t it?
