October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I’m sure you’ve seen the pink ribbons for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure when you’ve been out and about this month.
You may not have heard of the Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation. Their mission is stated as follows:
“Our mission is to grant wishes, including memory-making events, for metastatic breast cancer patients, while continuing to support, educate and increase resource awareness.”
They also sponsor a fundraiser called Brides Against Breast Cancer which had an event in Dallas, this past week. They also have an event scheduled for November 5-7 in Los Angeles. This event is supported through gown donations from individuals as well bridal shops and manufacturers. According to the website, more than half of the gowns presented during each event are new.
The website also states:
“Brides Against Breast Cancer™” gown sales continue to be important fund-raising events for Making Memories. Our 32 yearly shows provide brides-to-be with an opportunity to find their dream gown (at an incredible savings,) while making wishes and dreams come true for women and men who are losing their fight against breast cancer.
They are currently in need of more modern gowns! Please pass the word and consider donating to this worthy cause.
How can you help make dreams come true? At this time, we are in need of contemporary gown styles, slips and veils dating from 1995 until the present day. Each gown that arrives at our organization is carefully prepared for our upcoming “Brides Against Breast CancerTM, Nationwide Tour of Gowns” sales. The thousands of generous donations we receive from designers, manufactures, bridal shops, and individuals worldwide, enables Making Memories to grant final wishes to women and men suffering from terminal breast cancer.
