Here’s a little something to mull over from TheKnot.com, Honest guests reveal the best and worst about weddings.
I know we don’t often pause for something from the guests’ point of view. Certainly this is your big day and it should be everything you want it to be! However, a few things from this article stood out in my mind. I sure would have been a bit put out had I been in the shoes of these guests.
- Your date/spouse/partner is a member of the wedding party and you’re assigned to different tables – seat planners double check your arrangements, simple courtesy.
- Waiting outside the church for the bridal couple to make their grand exit – for 30 minutes because photographs were being taken inside – consider who you’re keeping waiting and arrange suitable photo time.
- Extremely long receiving lines – Must I chat with your great aunt Mabel and your second cousin Joe Bob while the bride’s long unseen college friend decides to catch up on the last 5 years?
Guests are there to share in your happiness. Uncomfortable guests are not exactly joyful. During the planning stages, take a “Guest Eye” view once in while and see if you’d be comfortable in their place.
