Addressing Wedding Invitations

Is that Miss Single Friend or Ms. Single Friend? Dr. and Mrs. Goodshots or Mr & Mrs Goodshots? Do I need that period every time?

Are you in a tizzy over how to correctly address your wedding invitations? Wedalert.com has a great chart that covers type of guest along with outer and inner envelope addressing style.

Since I’m usually the “phone a friend” type, I found it really helped me to have a guide like this!

In general, here is what you need to know:

Married Couple
Outer: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
Inner: Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Married Couple - Wife uses Maiden Name
Outer: Mr. John Smith and Mrs. Jane Brown
Inner: Mr. Smith and Mrs. Brown

Married Couple - Wife is a Doctor
Outer: Dr. Jane Brown and Mr. John Smith
Inner: Dr. Brown and Mr. Smith

Married Couple - Husband is an Officer
Outer: Captin and Mrs. John Smith
Inner: Captin and Mrs. Smith

To a Single Friend Bringing a Guest
Outer: Mr. John Smith
Inner: Mr. Smith and Guest

To Invite a Family with Children Under Age 18
Outer: Mr. and Mrs. John Smith
Inner: Mr. and Mrs. Smith
Sam and Jannie
