Your best pal just socked you with the news he’s getting married. In your foggy amazement, you realize what you heard after that was “and I want you to be the best man!” It’s a little like the deer in the headlights look. No worries, we got you covered.
Aside from shaking hands and congratulating your pal, your responsibilities post-handshake will vary with the scale of the event planned.
The best advice we can give you is Communicate! If there’s a professional wedding planner involved, that’s your ace in the hole. Being ahead of the game is their job, so don’t hesitate to ask them for guidance. No questions are bad questions! They will probably even have checklists of their own for you to follow.
If the bridal couple is planning things alone, see what they require and use the lists below to help you ask the right questions.
Most of all, remember you’re there to ease the path for your friend. After all, this is the day you get to play squire to his knight! Huzzah!

Hello, I love how organized your site is. I recently was a best man and it is unfortunate that I didn’t find this site earlier. I bombed on my best man speech but thought everything else went well. Anyways, thank you for all the excellent best man advice!
