We’re all aware of the public service campaign, “Don’t Drink & Drive.” While meaning no disrespect to that very sensible and safety conscious ideal, I’m of the opinion that that phrase really needs to be extended to cover any number of “don’t drink and (insert foolish action here)” slogans.
I could spend pages waxing philosophical about the varied circumstances in which over indulging in “spirits” would be considered unwise. But let’s stick to the wedding thing, shall we? Ergo, don’t drink and bride!
This is your day to be a star! If they made a movie of your wedding, wouldn’t you want it classified as a romance and not a comedy? Yes, yes, we all know the big day means the pressure, planning and stressing is finally over! You want to celebrate. By all means, do! Just remember that it’s easy for champagne sips to become champagne slips. Know your limits. If you normally have a glass of wine with dinner, chugging tequila shots with the bridesmaids is probably a very bad idea! Enjoy the bubbly, but eat something and don’t go over the edge.
After all, you worked so hard to get there and you are the center of attention. Now do you want Junior and Sis to look at those pictures one day and go - “Wow, Mom, you were snockered!”
A note to the guests, grooms and other wedding party members - do think about this advice as well.
If all else fails, DO designate a driver. Cheers!
