Become a Wedding Hero!

Posted on Tuesday 24 April 2007

My Wedding HeroRing the Bells! I’m pleased to announce our first call for writers to become Wedding Heroes! Starting Wednesday, April 25th we will be accepting applications to fill 10 new My Wedding Hero spots. It’s easy to apply, and we’re looking for anyone who wants to be part of building the Internet’s premiere wedding blog!

How to Apply
Starting April 25th , we will be accepting applications to become the newest writers for My Wedding Hero.

To apply:

  1. Contact us with your name, e-mail address, phone number, and blog URL if you have one.
  2. Include a brief summary on why you want to write for My Wedding Hero.
  3. Be prepared to share 2 articles you’ve written. One article should be about weddings and one can be on a subject of your choice.

We’re looking for interesting, original content. It doesn’t need to be posted on a fancy website, it just needs to be good writing. The article on weddings can cover any related subject including planning, honeymoons, fashion, music and entertainment, etc. We’re hoping that your interest in the subject will shine through and that your writing will share with us something valuable, because that’s what this site is all about.

If you have questions, please post a comment below for the world to see!

Why should I be a Wedding Hero?
MyWeddingHero.com was built with the purpose of creating a community of brides and wedding professionals who share wedding facts, tips and trends with one another. If you are planning your wedding or love to write about all things wedding, then we want you to become a Wedding Hero. These openings are available to bloggers, non-bloggers, brides and vendors alike. There are no restrictions.

What do I get out of the deal?
For brides, you get free use of our Wedding Planning Software. Just submit 4 posts a month and our incredible wedding software is yours to use as long as you like, no charge.

For vendors, you get free advertising. When you publish articles on My Wedding Hero, you’ll not only be able to link to your own blog, but you can even post your articles on your site or wherever you want! They’re your articles, and you can do whatever you want with them. Becoming a writer for our site is a great way to build traffic.

For everyone, you’ll get to build a body of published work on the Internet and more importantly, a readership. All content on the site will be edited for quality, so as our prestige grows so will yours. You also won’t have to worry about having your beautiful work floating in a sea of mucky, uninteresting articles.

What are the terms?
There will be a very simple member agreement that new members will have to agree to, but I’ll just give you the “deal breakers” right off the bat:

  • Not all articles that are submitted will be published.
  • Submitted articles are subject to editing before publication on the site.
  • Authors who write excessively self-promotional articles will be banned from the kingdom!
  • Articles may be republished by the site without prior notice.

What else?
By becoming a Wedding Hero you’ll play an active role in shaping the Internet’s premiere wedding blog, not just by writing articles, but behind the scenes. We’ve created what we’ve dubbed the “Wedding Superfriends” where we’ll discuss the future direction of the site, and you’ll get a chance for your voice to be heard.

This is not some fly-by-night online network. We have created the Internet’s best wedding tools and information and we’re going to stand behind it 110%. If you ever wanted to write a blog, you can do it here with the backing of a full team of developers constantly improving the site.

Should you hire a wedding planner?

Posted on Tuesday 24 April 2007

Celebrate-003If you are a regular reader of wedding blogs (isn’t everyone?), you have probably read “Something Blue” by Dallas Wedding Planner. There is a great post this week with the reasons you should hire a wedding planner. The point of the article is that every bride should consider having a professional planner as part of her dream wedding team.

Now that you are convinced you need a planner (please go back and read the article, k), why not make your experience even more productive with the help of online wedding planning software from My Wedding Hero? It’s the only software that allows brides and planners to dream the perfect day together. Sounds a bit commercially but it’s true:

  • Keep all your wedding details and decisions in one place so nothing is lost (try doing that with a years worth of emails!).
  • Print and share your plan with your other wedding vendors such as the DJ or florist.
  • Communicate with everyone involved in your wedding, no matter where they are.

Having a wedding planner help with your wedding is great. Having one that uses My Wedding Hero is even better. Start your plan now.

My Wedding Hero first steps for Wedding Professionals

Posted on Monday 23 April 2007

Wedding PlannerMy Wedding Hero is online wedding planning software for brides and wedding professionals alike. Special features enable wedding professionals to communicate and stay organized with their brides like never before.

If you are a wedding professional just getting started with My Wedding Hero, here’s how to create a new wedding plan subscription for your bride:

(These instructions assume you already have an account with My Wedding Hero. If you don’t, go to our sign-up page to get started. You can start a wedding plan in less than a minute with no commitments and no credit cards required.)

  1. Once you get signed-in, navigate to the “account” page.
  2. Click the new subscription link at the bottom of the “account — weddings overview” page to start a brand new wedding plan for your bride.
  3. Answer 4 questions and hit the “create new wedding” button.
  4. You should now see the new wedding listed on the “account — weddings overview” page. Click on the wedding name to go to that wedding.
  5. One of the first things you will want to do is “invite” the bride to this wedding plan. Click “Invite users” at the top right of any page or navigate to “home — users — invite new user”
  6. Enter the brides email address, an optional message, select profile of “admin” and hit the add button.
  7. Both you and the bride will get an email invitation with instructions for her to join My Wedding Hero. Note, email can be funny sometimes so be sure the bride is set to accept emails from My Wedding Hero and check that the invite doesn’t end up in her junk folder. If things still get a little lost, you can always refer to your copy of the email.
